Terms
2 details on this page have still to be supplied by the publisher. They are marked in the text.
What this is
Index is a public record of companies, investors, funding rounds, launches and the people around them. Reading it is free and needs no account. An account adds a watchlist, the ability to submit a company, and the ability to claim one.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the site. If you do not accept them, do not use it.
What the records are worth
The index is compiled from public sources and from what companies tell us about themselves. We try to keep it right and we correct errors quickly, but we do not warrant that any figure here is accurate, complete or current, and you should not treat it as the basis for an investment decision, a hiring decision, or anything else that matters without checking it yourself.
Funding figures in particular are estimates reconciled against the rounds we hold. Where a company has claimed its record it may correct its own description, website, location, headcount and sector; it may not edit its own funding figures, which stay with the research desk.
Claiming a company
You may claim a company record if you have a working email address at that company domain. Claiming is free, and it lets you correct the parts of the record a company legitimately knows better than we do.
Do not claim a record for a company you do not work for. We may reverse a claim, and remove the account behind it, if it was made in bad faith.
Using the index
You may read, link to and quote the index freely, and export what you can see on a page. You may not scrape it wholesale, resell it as a dataset, or use it to build a competing index — including through the public API at /api/v1, which is read-only, free, needs no key, and is rate-limited by address for exactly that reason. These terms cover it; it does not get its own.
You may not use anything here to contact the people listed for unsolicited marketing. Their information is published so the market can be understood, not so it can be sold to.
Liability, and which law applies
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on a record.
These terms are governed by the law of to be supplied, and the courts of to be supplied have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have to bring proceedings where you live.
We may change these terms. If a change matters, the date at the top of this page moves and we will say what changed.
